Tortious Interference with Contract

Tortious interference with contract is when a defendant, without a proper reason, deliberately causes someone to breach their contract with a third party. That is, A & B have a contract, but defendant improperly causes A to not perform according to the contract. For example, let’s say defendant hates B and knows that A is contractually obligated to pay money to B. If defendant lies to A to convince A not to pay B, then defendant improperly interfered with the contract and will be liable for tortious interference.
