Self-Executing
A treaty or contract is “self-executing” if it goes into effect upon being signed, without requiring any additional steps to be enforceable. For example, if a treaty becomes enforceable once it is signed without requiring any legislation, then the treaty is self-executing. However, if the treaty requires a legislative act before the treaty becomes enforceable, then the treaty is non-self-executing.
